“The Dome”- New Dallas Cowboys Stadium

After watching Monday Night Football, My Team, the Dallas Cowboys finally won their first game in their new 1.3 BILLION dollar stadium. Now this post is not about the team’s victory, instead I’m talking about their bar setting stadium. This stadium, where a new NFL record 105 121 people were in, is a state of the art sports venue. The 15 years in the making, “Bad Boy” Jerry Jones vision, Dome holds 111 000 people. It’s an astounding 3 million square feet and has a controversial 160 x 72 foot (49 m × 22 m) television that is situated 90 feet above the 50 yard line and also the worlds largest TV. I say controversial because in the preseason opener an opponent kicker, punted the ball that hit the base of the television, a new rule was set in place by the NFL because of that play, now if a ball hits the scoreboard, the play is called dead and re-done. There is a ground level lounge that covers the entire field where fans are so close to the game and players they think they are part of the game. $60 20 inch pizza’s, 5 dollar beers and tickets ranging from $75 to $239 but you can also buy a $29 party pass ticket which is a standing seat ticket. This stadium is so great I need to add a video to explain all the details. Please view it and you too will be amazed…

** Sidebar: With this Stadium being built, I come to ask myself… Why can’t we have one like that? When I say we, I mean the Montreal Canadiens. We, here, are die hard fans and it’s hard to find a ticket under $250 let alone A ticket for that matter, we can use “THE DOME” model and do our own version. The $29 standing seat and $5 beers ideas is, to me, one of the greatest moves ever. Our home games have been sold out since 2004, the Bell center only holds 21 273 people, a far cry form Dallas’ 111 000. With The Molson family recently re-buying the franchise, I call them out to build something great for the city.

HABS…. STEP YOU GAME UP!!

Theoren Fleury…. The Flame is out!

The player whom I spoke previously of as being the ultimate underdog has, at age 41, decided to call it a career; on his own terms. After being away from the game for 6 years, going threw alcohol and drug addictions, the Lion hearted 5 foot 6er came back for a tryout with HIS team, the Calgary Flames. Having Played 4 preseason games with 3 points scored, Fleury quickly realised that his scoring hands were still there but the legs wouldn’t follow. He could not give enough minutes per game nor endure the 82 games schedule, so he decided to give someone else a chance and hang up his skates. The 7 times all-star’s career numbers speak for themselves, in 1084 game (15 NHL years), he earned 1088 points which is unbelievable for such an underdog. He had some dark moments in his life, which he is not ready to undermise, but his career was also field with great ones. I remember this one moment where (I don’t remember how) in a game his jersey was covered in his own blood, they couldn’t find his alternate jersey… so he looked up in the stands, saw a guy showing him a “Fleury” jersey that he had been wearing; He ran up there got the jersey from the guy, put it on and was ready to play. Now he didn’t actually get to play with it on because that jersey had been signed by the whole Calgary Flames team and that’s not permitted, but the thought of him not caring about his bloodied self and just wanting to continue playing is, to me, one of the greatest moments in sports history.  The Saskatchewan native was and will always be a winner, Stanley cups, Olympic gold, JR. world cups and even a Canada cup are all championships Theoren has acquired during his hockey career. A hometown Hero, the “small wonder” is now reaching out to another calling and that is helping others. He has some endless life stories that make it easy for him to talk and help others who are going threw the same thing he did. He has seen it all, the money the fame, and the dumpster, I applaud him for the strength he had to overcome it and even more for realising his story may touch and help others. I couldn’t say this 4 years ago (because he was an absolute failure at the time) but Theron Fleury really inspires me and this charismatic person should someday be immortalized in the NHL Hall Of Fame.

 Have a good one Theo!!

Teddy Points of View: US athletes vs CND athletes and a little more….

Filed under Teddy Points of view...

After posting about the Lebron James’ “More than a game”, it got me thinking…

Why are US athletes usually better then Canadian athletes? Watching movies like “Friday Night Light”, Varsity Bleus”, “Mighty Ducks” 1, 2 and 3, shows like “One tree hill”, “Two a days” and many many more, it made me realize something. With whole communities shutting down because EVERYONE is at the high school game, crazy workout plans, personal trainers, agents, cheerleaders, the whole 9 yards, high school sports is a like religion in the US. They see the opportunity to get out of poverty in some cases or to gain social benefits in others. They have dedicated coaches, fans and alumni to back them up. Having played high school basketball at an elite level, I never saw more then 30 people watching my games and we were regional champions gor 5 straight years… While in high school my basketball and football coaches never asked me to lift weights nor did we practice two times a day or have open gym sessions after school hours to get some extra work in. Now I know things have changed since then because kids here are getting better and better but it seems like it’s just not as intense as it is across the boarder. Some may say that the US has over 305 million people and Canada only just over 33 million, that makes us 10x (10 times) underdogs. So for every Steve Nash we have, which is not many, they have a thousand Chris Paul’s. I’m just not one to make excuses; we need to get to that same level regardless. I feel that the government should get involved and invest more into our kids’ athletics. We should pay coaches, who are worthy of teaching our kids sports, a real salary (so they don’t have to work 2 jobs thus having too coach part time) and not have every kids’ parents, who doesn’t know anything technical about the sport, coaching voluntarily. Let’s start them at a younger age, teach them the fundamentals in a none competitive way. Then, when they have chosen the sport they love the most and are old enough to understand loosing as part of the learning process, that way we can give them the tools and opportunities needed to be a great athlete and ambassadors. If they don’t make it to an elite or professional level they would have learned a lot of things that will serve them well in adulthood.

 On another note…

People, encourage your city and high school sport teams, these kids are looking for support from their peers and family. Maybe we would have less obesity, less high school drop outs, less kids spending all their time playing video games or chatting on the net with some pedophile. Sports has always been a great way to learn discipline and concentration; maybe that kid who has a little bit of attention deficit wouldn’t have to take Ritalin to exhaust that extra energy. All I’m saying is support our youth because they’re our future; sports is good for the soul and if competing at an elite level means more hard work and dedication, then so be it…..

Nike The Game is Never Over.

Nike Sportswear teams up with soccer sensation Patrice Evra and Pixel artist Yassine (Lezilus) to make a wicked retro-gaming TV. commercial. Take a look you won’t be disappointed! This video is rightfully called “The Game is Never Over”.

*Sidebar: Seriously though, Nike really inspired me! They’re always on point, constantly renewing themselves and all while staying true to who they are. Incredibly, Nike is practically the front runner in every sport imaginable without leaving anything left for the other players.  Some people hate on them just because they’re an enormous corporation, but what people don’t realize is that to get to that point you have to be the best, study, analyse and impress. Those who frown on Nike only do so because in reality they want to be like Mike I mean Nike.

Habs coach Martin has a real REAL close face to face with Serge K.

Sergei kostitsyn, little brother of teammate Andrei kostitsyn, gets his A$$ put in check by new head coach Jacques martin. The veteran coach Martin won’t be impressed with Sergie’s antics of last season. Missing a team bus ride and not following the coache’s game strategy instructions….  Sergei, you won’t be here for long; Get your ish together!

I won’t be surprised to either see Sergei traded or sent down to the minor league with Hamilton by year end. They can’t afford to continue having him be a negative influence on his big bro Andrei. Remember what I said about David Desharnais? He surely can take Sergei’s roster spot and do something better with it. On a lighter note, I do beleive his is of great talent and could be an elite player, he just needs to restrain from having this pre-modona / “i’m a super star” mentality and get down and dirty with what we pay him for….. Just play Hockey my brother and everything will be alright.

BTW, I think that Coach Martin Used the oppertunity to scream, yell and get in Sergei’s face to let the rest team know who’s boss and that whatever happened last year was just that… LAST YEAR!

*Sidebar: Serge K. scored the only goal in the Habs pre-season game loss against the Bruins (2-1 bruins in shootout)

With Complex doing a top 100 sneaker list, i asked myself…

“what’s my favorite sneaker of the 2000’s?”

these are my2 most favs…

DC x SSUR Caviar Cartel collabo, dropping in 05 i first saw these at the Magic Clothing convention in Vegas, my homey Marlon Raichel (owner of Sneaktip) was repping for the Retail Mafia out of Conney Island New York and told me he would hook me up… 5 years later and I still didn’t get these. The crazy thing is that the all black with real caviar detailing sneaker is still wearable to this day. Yo Marlon holla at your BOY!

the next one is the Nike 180 x Union L.A. collabo, also droping in 05, i saw these and went nuts. It as in that time where all the heads were rocking bright colors. The color twist a the Charles Barkley original was just what I needed at that time.

post your favorites in the coments section!

Officer Ricky Ross goes hard @ Floyd Mayweather…

0
Filed under shake my head moment...

The Boxer Floyd Mayweather and Rapper Rick Ross have been beefing it up for a couple of months now. According to Ismael AbduSalaam of allhiphop.com this is how it all went down…

“It’s been months since the release of the beef-igniting “Mafia Music.” But multi-division boxing champion Floyd Mayweather has not forgotten Rick Ross’ unprovoked jab at him.

While most focused on the lines aimed at Mayweather friend 50 Cent, Ross also questioned the validity of Mayweather’s wealth claims, despite the boxer grossing $50 million in 2007.

(“That Mayweather money looking funny in the light.”)

In an exclusive multi-part interview with AllHipHop.com, Mayweather framed Ross as an unoriginal artist who appropriated the lifestyles and appearance of other individuals.

“Cassidy already did ‘I’m a Hustla,’ [and] he’s an East Coast rapper. That’s already been done. Freeway already came out with the beard look. And then the real Rick Ross was really getting it as a hustler,” Mayweather explained to AllHipHop.com. “I don’t have to take no shots at Rick Ross. I don’t think he’s making $20-$30 million every time he goes out there to perform. I got my own name, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather. That’s original. With his rap career, I wish him nothing but the best.”

Regarding Ross’ initial flip-flopping on the corrections officer issue, Mayweather references that controversy as proof the Miami rapper is simply selling a false image.

“[His] stats and credentials don’t rhyme. One minute he said he wasn’t a CO or cop, next minute he is,” Mayweather told AllHipHop.com. “He can learn how to get money from me. If he’s a cop and rapping about selling drugs, I guess he was a dirty cop! You know me, I’m not ducking and dodging no one, it’s not hard to find me. I’m in Miami all the time, Atlanta, everywhere.”

Although cognizant that comments like his have a history of igniting “beefs,” Floyd Mayweather feels Ross is simply a disgruntled fan lashing out.

“Me and my manager Al Haymon were the ones that did Lil Wayne’s last tour. So when I seen Rick Ross in Miami on the first show, he broke his neck to speak to me,” Mayweather stated.

“Rap has truly changed. He was at my Hatton fight, cheering me on. I guess he got upset because I’m cool with 50 Cent. But like I said, if I need someone arrested I’ll call him.”

Floyd Mayweather is currently preparing for his anticipated September 19 return bout against fellow pound for pound elite Juan Manuel Marquez.”

Dudes dem some fighting words…

i wonder if that’s the reason why Floyd put a serious beatdown on Marquez the other night; bringing is astonishing undisputed champion record to 40 and O… was he thinking of “The Boss” Rick Ross?
